The NationalCenter for Socio-Economic Information and Forecast (NCSEIF) of the Ministry of Planning and Investment recently released an optimistic prediction on socio-economic realities in the second quarter of 2009.
The assessment was based on signs of reversion from the global financial crisis and the recovery of the national economy in April.
Moreover, the Government-initiated measures to curb economic slowdown have proved effective.
In April and first four months, according to the General Statistic Office, production value of some goods started to go up again in April, including glassware (up 61.8%), liquidized gas (33%), washing powder (28%), crude oil (21.9%), synthesized fiber cloth (11.1%) and fertilizers (10.6%)
Especially, the output of aquatic products reached a new record of 802,000 tons, up 8.8%.
Retail revenue of goods and services is estimated to jump 21.5% in the first four months against the same period last year.
NCSEIF forecasts GDP growth rate to surge by 3.5-3.8% in the second quarter.
Growth rates of agriculture, industry, and service sectors will be 2.1-2.5%, 3.8-4.1% and 4-4.2% respectively in the same period .
